We’ve got lots of problems in the world today, but you know what the biggest one is?
It’s not global warming. It’s not the threat of disease. It’s not war or opioid addiction or poverty. This ONE PROBLEM is the cause of most others and fixing it will sort everything out.
The problem is- nobody wants the bill. Keep reading.
Hi, I’m Alex Blasingame and welcome to my first post. Tell me if this sounds familiar:
Oh woe is me! Everybody’s sick and my wife doesn’t like me! And my dog doesn’t lick my hand anymore! And I hate my job! And who will do something about it?
Sound like anybody you know? Maybe you? Maybe your friends? Maybe your family?
Well, everything that I just said could be true. You could have problems with money. You do have problems with this pandemic. You could not like your job or where you live or the people you know or whatever it is that’s going on with you.
But do you know what you need to do? You’ve got to own the fact that you put yourself where you’re at and you’re the only person that can get yourself out of it.
Guess what? Everybody’s got problems. If you’re overweight, that’s your responsibility. If you don’t have any money, that’s your responsibility. If you don’t have any friends, that’s your responsibility.
You’re not going to be able to move forward; you’re not going to be able to get ahead, until you own who you are and what you’ve done.
The World Is What You Make It
The world can be an awesome place, where you intentionally move forward, accomplishing what you want to accomplish. Being responsible for yourself and for your actions.
Or it can be this horrible place, where everybody’s constantly doing things to you. Where you can never get ahead and you’re going to live an unhappy life. And you’re going to be responsible for that too, regardless of how you feel about whoever might have done it to you.
Who Am I?
So the question you’re probably asking yourself is,
Well, I’ll tell you who I am. I’m a pilot and I fly hundreds of people around in big, shiny, expensive things. I take responsibility for that. And, if something happens when I’m flying that plane, guess who the FAA comes to get with their hatchets? Me. So, that’s just my life.
Here’s What I’m Taking Responsibility For
Why am I doing these videos? Because I might get furloughed in four months and I’m taking responsibility for providing for my wife and my two children (who are probably killing each other in the living room while I’m writing this) because in October I might not have a job.
So I need to take action. I need to take responsibility for myself. I don’t want to go on unemployment. I don’t want to go live with my parents. So I’m creating opportunities by owning my own life and decisions.
So here’s my goal- I am working on all kinds of videos. My wife’s working on videos. I’m working on videos for ScouterAlex.com, I operate Mouse Monthly which is a Disney fan site, and I’m doing stop motion animation called Tales of Bob. There’s probably a dozen other things I’m doing too.
I’d give blood, but I’m afraid of needles, so I can’t make money that way.
I’m trying to get from my zero total entrepreneurial presence to making $5,000 a month by October, because that’s what I’m going to need when I get canned from my airline.
What Are You Taking Responsiblity For Today?
What are you going to work on? What are you going to take responsibility for this week?
Don’t look around and say, “I’m a fat lump of lard and it’s somebody else’s fault,” even though you go to McDonald’s five times a week. Stop doing that!
Take responsibility for yourself. Get something done this week. Decide to do something. Take action!
While you’re taking action, leave me a comment and let me know what you did. I’d love to hear from you. There’ll be more.
